Restaurant: El Rey

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

A small restaurant in the Lower East Side, El Rey is an ideal spot to grab a quick dinner with a friend, especially if you're hoping to eat a little healthier. Cat and I stopped in here after work a few nights ago and we sat right in the window looking out onto the street. The restaurant only has a few tables and barstools, but it's totally worth the wait (that is if there is a wait - we were lucky and sat right away!). We ordered the charred radicchio (first two images) and shaved cauliflower (second image), and split green mole burrata. All three dishes were fantastic. The charred radicchio was made with ricotta, hazelnut,  and mint. The shaved cauliflower came ontop of a poached egg and was drizzled with a chickpea vinaigrette. The food here has the most unique, but winning, combinations. If you're in the LES and hungry, this is the spot to try!
