72 Hours: Down the shore!

Tuesday, May 28, 2013
I am all about escaping the city when it comes to holiday weekends. I spent MDW down the shore in the town of Normandy. The Jersey shore is slowly but surely rebuilding itself, but I was still in shock of how much devastation is still down there. A serious pit formed in my stomach when I saw all the beautiful shore houses in ruins. Homes split in half, entire lots cleared away. Jersey will rebuild, but it's going to take a long time.

The weather on Saturday was rainy and cold and we spent the day reading magazines, drinking Wawa iced coffee (it's like crack), and nursing our hangovers with bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches. The rest of the weekend was sunny and spent outside by the lagoon along with shopping in Lavallette. Escaping down the shore is fosho my favorite thing about summer.

  1. The first time I ever went to a Wawa was down by the shore. They make SUCH good sandwiches!
